Purple GT-R receives expert detailing treatment

The Midnight Purple Nissan GT-R T-Spec that arrived at Bulletproof Auto Spa in Los Angeles received a complete protection package. The car will soon exit production with no confirmed successor.

The GT-R T-Spec’s position in Nissan’s lineup

Since 2007, the GT-R R35 has carried the “Godzilla” nickname. The T-Spec ranks above the standard Premium trim but below the full NISMO, though it stands as the most collectible version. Nissan produced it in limited quantities, offered only two heritage colors, and equipped it with NISMO-derived hardware—Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes and gold-painted RAYS forged wheels.

The hand-assembled 3.8-liter twin-turbo VR38DETT V6 generates 565 horsepower and 467 lb-ft of torque. That output allows a 0-60 mph time of about 2.7 seconds, outperforming vehicles costing far more.

Complete XPEL Ultimate Plus PPF coverage

Every panel—front bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors, A-pillars, rocker panels, door edges, door cups, rear quarters, and trunk—was wrapped in XPEL Ultimate Plus Paint Protection Film. The Midnight Purple finish shifts from near-black in shade to rich purple in sunlight. Any chip or rock strike would demand a full-panel respray to match the color. The film, a self-healing thermoplastic urethane, absorbs impacts and returns to its original state with heat, preserving the paint’s clarity and depth.

Technicians at Bulletproof used precision plotter-cut patterns and wet-install methods to ensure seamless transitions around the GT-R’s sharp body lines. Each panel underwent inspection under high-intensity lighting before approval.

XPEL Prime XR Plus nano-ceramic window tint

The tint blocks up to 98% of infrared heat and over 99% of UV radiation without metallic layers that could disrupt the car’s GPS or electronics. In Southern California’s heat, the tint prevents Alcantara and plastics from fading while keeping visibility clear.

Such detailing goes beyond looks. The GT-R R35 has remained in production for nearly two decades without a redesign, yet it still surpasses newer, pricier cars. The T-Spec, particularly in Midnight Purple, is already a highly sought-after variant. As production ends with no replacement announced, well-maintained examples gain value.

Owners who drive their T-Spec daily without proper paint protection lose money with every outing. This owner recognized that risk, and the shop delivered work matching the car’s reputation.
