Volkswagen has introduced an extended wheelbase version of its ID. Buzz Cargo van, increasing load space for commercial users. The new long-wheelbase model is 250mm longer than the standard version, with the extra space dedicated to carrying capacity.

The increase in length has resulted in an additional 0.5 cubic meters of load space, bringing the total to 4.4 cubic meters. This matches the cargo volume of the electric Kia PV5, a key rival to the ID. Buzz Cargo.

The long-wheelbase version also features a second sliding side door as standard, which is 19cm wider, allowing a Euro pallet to fit directly through the new aperture.

All versions of the ID. Buzz Cargo come with the larger 86kWh battery pack, and customers can choose between a 286hp rear-wheel-drive setup or a 340hp all-wheel-drive setup.

The rear-wheel-drive model has a maximum payload of 700kg, while the all-wheel-drive van can carry 606kg. Both versions can tow braked trailers weighing up to 1,800kg.

The updated infotainment system includes access to a new app store and an updated Travel Assist function that reacts to traffic lights automatically. The ID. Buzz Cargo also features a Vehicle-to-Load function, allowing the main drive battery to power appliances and tools.

Orders for the long-wheelbase ID. Buzz Cargo are already open in Germany, with a premium of €2,340 for the extended electric van. UK customers will have to wait until early 2027 to place their orders, with prices yet to be confirmed.
