Ram is bringing back its ProMaster City van as a 2027 model, and it’s priced to beat its competition by thousands of dollars. The ProMaster City van, including destination charges, will sticker for less than $40,000, beating the Ford Transit by $10,000.
According to the report, Ram has been focused on its truck lineup, but it’s also committed to its commercial customers. Matt VanDyke, Ram CEO, said, “Ram has been making a lot of noise with our truck lineup, but we’re equally focused on the commercial customers who count on us every day to keep their businesses moving.”
Difficult Market for Small Cargo Vans
Ram discontinued the smaller ProMaster City in 2022, but announced its return at the New York International Auto Show in March. The smaller city vans were popular for deliveries and repair services due to their ease of parking in big cities.
However, their popularity waned after Covid shut everything down. Ford discontinued its smaller Transit Connect after the 2023 model year, and GM has also discontinued its smaller vans with no signs of bringing them back.

Now, Ram is bringing the small city van back, and it will be priced to sell. The ProMaster City will be available in Tradesman or SLT trim levels, with options for a cargo van or passenger wagon configuration.

In comparison to similar vans in the market, the ProMaster City‘s pricing and features make it an attractive option for businesses looking for a reliable and affordable vehicle. Its return to the market may also indicate a shift in the demand for smaller cargo vans, which had declined in recent years.
The 2027 ProMaster City production will start at a Stellantis plant in Turkey in late 2026, with deliveries expected to start in the first quarter of 2027.
The ProMaster City will be sold as part of the Ram Professional lineup, offering businesses a range of options for their commercial vehicle needs. With its competitive pricing and features, the ProMaster City is likely to be a popular choice among businesses looking for a reliable and affordable van.
